About
Redefining the Possible
Forming seemingly impossible shapes with the utmost part consistency.
Interlaken Technology Company has been an integral player in the metal forming and testing arena since 1980. We’re in it for the long haul and we take pride in cultivating partnerships that last. ITC is a group of talented individuals working with one goal in mind; to help bring your vision to reality. Click around this page to learn what defines our culture, where we’ve been and where we’re going.
We Make It...
You Make It
What does that really mean? It means that ITC is committed to your success. The best solution may be that we use our hydroforming systems to create the parts for you. It may be that we design and build a system for your facility, allowing you to create the parts. Or maybe we make the parts until you’re ready for a system and full production. The number of options is what makes ITC unique.

The ITC Timeline

1980
Interlaken Technology Is Born
Interlaken Technology was created in 1980. ITC began by building transducers, load cells and controls. The company also did custom engineering. Within the first decade, ITC developed its first PC based control system and began to create its own system designs.
1990s
Testing Systems Expand
By the end of the 1990’s, Interlaken was in full production of metal formability, friction, fatigue, and tensile testing systems. Its servo presses were used in university, bio-medical, automotive, and aeronautical laboratories.
2000
First Hydroforming System
In 2000, Interlaken designs and builds its first research hydroforming system. Production hydroformers quickly follow.
2003
Water Works Manufacturing
In 2003, Robb Bass leaves a humidifier company in Eden Prairie, MN to pursue hydroforming. His first major purchase for his new company, Water Works Manufacturing, is a 500 Ton hydroformer from Interlaken. As Robb’s business grew, Water Works acquired Cambridge Metals & Plastics in Cambridge, MN and this is now the company headquarters. CMP is heavy into making parts for the power sports industry, with customers such as Polaris and Arctic Cat.
2008
Hydroforming Expansion
In 2008, Interlaken introduces its first fully automated, high-rate production hydroforming system. Can you see where this is leading?
2012
Water Works Acquires ITC
In 2012, Water Works acquires ITC. Parts manufacturer and systems manufacturer become one. This combined company was acquired by Nelson Global Products of Stoughton, WI in 2013, but Robb still had a vision.
2015
Vision Realized
Robb acquired Interlaken from Nelson Global in 2015, then the original Water Works assets in 2017. It had come full circle.
2020
Design, Build, Produce
20 years after Robb purchased a hydroforming press from Interlaken, ITC and Water Works are now one, in Chaska, MN. Hydroforming parts production, system design and assembly, and elevated temperature forming all reside under one roof.
